I always wanted to be a woodworker and realised my ambition in 1980 when I completed my training and set up a business in Devon, working on housing developments, manufacturing joinery and boat building.
The move back to my home town of Edinburgh in 1992 provided opportunities to start working in the city’s historic buildings. I grew to love working in these environments, especially when alterations were being done with sensitivity to the original design. My son Matthew trained with me and completed his apprenticeship in 2000. He has grown into a highly skilled tradesman, and we are still working together, productively and happily (most of the time) at the core of the business.
Over the years we have developed good working relationships with a small network of suppliers, manufacturers and sub-contractors who enable us to offer a genuine all trades service of good value and exceptional quality.
We thrive upon diversity and are able to undertake everything from the fitting of a simple shelf to the complete refurbishment of a building.
Our approach is always the same, whether we are working in the smallest flat or the finest house:
- We listen carefully to what the client says and focus on achieving agreed objectives at agreed prices
- We work in an organised and efficient way.
- We clean up as we go and finish each job properly.
